Juan Garaizabal (* 1971 in Madrid , Spain ) is a conceptual artist , sculptor and engraver . The diverse artist has also dealt with drawings , video art , lighting and acoustic systems , among other things . He is known internationally for his public , monumental installations . His personal project "Memorias Urbanas" (city memories) embodies architecturally fading elements with sculptural structures and light and fills historically significant places in large cities.

career

Juan Garaizabal studied fine arts at the IB67 in Madrid and completed higher studies at the CESEM in Reims , France , where he combined his initial creations with the design of rooms and lofts . He gained experience with different materials. At the moment he is working on a conceptual intervention in public spaces in Berlin and Madrid . He produces a large part of his works himself. He used iron - and steel forging techniques , lighting , woodwork , masonry and plastics .

Personal life

Between 1998 and 2007 he traveled through various stations from Madrid to Cape Town on the African continent . He currently lives and works in Berlin and Madrid and harmonizes the temporary works for other projects. He is the father of two daughters.
