Juan García-Santacruz Ortiz (born January 11, 1933 in Navahermosa , Toledo Province, † March 12, 2011 in Toledo ) was a Roman Catholic theologian and Bishop of Guadix .

Life

Juan García-Santacruz Ortiz studied in 1956 after studying theology at the seminary of Toledo educational philosophy with a focus on psychology. He was ordained a priest on May 26, 1956 in Toledo . He was active as a pastor in various parishes. He was head of Caritas Interparroquial (1974-1979) and a member of the faculty of the school of the Fraternity (1982-1992) and the College of Consultants (1984-1992) and canon of the Cathedral of Toledo (1987-1992). He also taught religion at the Colegio Mayol (1973), the Instituto El Greco (1974–1978) and Instituto Alfonso X el Sabio (1978–1983).

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Guadix in 1992. The episcopal ordination donated to him on June 14, 1992 Archbishop Mario Tagliaferri , Apostolic Nuncio in Spain; Co- consecrators were Cardinal Marcelo González Martín , Archbishop of Toledo, and José Méndez Asensio , Archbishop of Granada . His age-related resignation was accepted by Pope Benedict XVI. Approved in 2009.

In the Spanish Bishops' Conference CEE he was a member of the Episcopal Commissions for Migration (1993–1996), Seminars and Universities (1993–1996) and of the Lay Apostolate (1996–2005). From 2005 to 2011 he was a member of the Episcopal Commission for Cultural Heritage.
