Juan Urteaga

Juan Urteaga (born August 26, 1972 in Kingston ) is an American musician and record producer .

Career

Urteaga's father worked for the Peruvian government and moved several times. Juan Urteaga spent the first two years of his life in Jamaica and later lived in Washington, DC , Venezuela and Peru before settling in California . Juan Urteaga learned the instruments guitar and bass . In California he first played in the local bands Zeitgeist and Lords of Chaos before founding the death metal band Vile in 1996 together with guitarist Colin Davis . Since the guitarists and the bassist were simply better, according to Urteaga, he took over the vocals.

Out of necessity, Urteaga became a sound engineer and recorded the demo Unearthed with his band . He later met then- Testament guitarist and producer James Murphy , whom Urteaga now refers to as his mentor . He later focused more on producing albums, so in 2005 he left Vile. Urteaga runs the Trident Studio in the city of Martinez .

Juan Urteaga is married and has two children. His daughter can be heard on Machine Head's Unto the Locust album, along with the children of Machine Head members Robb Flynn and Phil Demmel .
