history

The band was formed in the fall of 2001 by singer and guitarist Tyler Satterlee and drummer Derek Bean. The two school friends started to cover songs by bands like Slayer , Metallica , Megadeth , Iron Maiden , Motörhead , Judas Priest and Black Sabbath , calling themselves Atrosity. In 2002 bassist Patrick Hamby joined the band. The group continued to cover songs and made their first local appearances. In early 2005 the band released their first EP, Fuck Everything . In the same year the band also played as opening act for Kreator and Overkill . In 2006 the band had to rename itself to Devastator, as there was already a German band of the same name . The release was followed by a tour of the US, which included appearances in 40 cities, together with the band Rattlehead.

After the tour, the band took a break, with only a few appearances in 2010. The band then called themselves Blessed Curse, because it was a blessing and a curse at the same time to play in a band. In 2011 the band returned to Trident Studios with producer Juan Urteaga to record their self-titled debut album. The band also signed a contract with Cyclone Empire . After the album was completed, there followed appearances with Death Angel , Destruction , Warbringer, Dirty Rotten Imbeciles , EvilDead , Hatchet, Bonded by Blood , Exmortus , Sacrificial Slaughter and Witchaven , as well as a summer tour in 2012. with plans to do a full US tour again this summer, 2012.

style

The band plays classic thrash metal. Devastator's style has been compared to Kreator , Razor , Artillery , Heathen , Morbid Saint, and Blood Feast . The release under the name Blessed Curse has also been compared to Kreator's early works, as well as to the Thrash Metal of the San Francisco Bay Area and Venom .
