The jubilee medal "30 Years of National People's Army" was an award of the National People's Army (NVA) of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the NPA on 1 March 1986 in one step from the Minister of National Defense Heinz Kessler was created . It was awarded to a selected group of people from the NVA, all others received the badge on the 30th anniversary of the NVA . Among the first to be awarded was the Minister for State Security Erich Mielke , who received the medal on March 1st.

Appearance and wearing style

The silver-plated medal shows on its obverse an upward-pointing Kalashnikov , to which an NVA troop flag waving to the right is attached. Below is a branch of laurel pointing to the left. The reverse of the medal shows the state coat of arms of the GDR over the entire surface with the inscription FOR THE PROTECTION OF WORKERS AND FARMERS within a laurel wreath (service coat of arms of the NVA). The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest of the borrower on a white-covered pentagonal clasp with three green median stripes woven in the middle of the ribbon. 3 mm from the hem, a black, red and gold strip is also woven in on both sides, which is 3 mm wide. The associated interim clasp is of the same quality.
