Badge for the 20th anniversary of the NVA

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The badge for the 20th anniversary of the NVA was a non-governmental award of the National People's Army of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was donated by the Minister for National Defense Heinz Hoffmann on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the NVA in 1976 .

Appearance

There are two different pieces from the 20th anniversary of the NVA. On the one hand, a square with rounded corners in the red enameled edge of the inscription: 20 YEARS OF NATIONAL PEOPLE'S ARMY can be read and the center of which shows the three armed forces, land, air and naval forces on a golden yellow background. The back shows a cross-soldered needle with a counter-hook.

On the other hand, a second badge in the form of a medal, which was issued on the occasion of a major international event at VEB Fahrzeugwerk Waltershausen . The medal shape is covered at its lower right edge by the image of an NVA soldier who goes beyond the edge of the medal. Underneath him is a waving banner with the inscription: MARCH 1, 1976 . The rest of the medal is surrounded by a laurel wreath, in the middle of which the NVA coat of arms with the inscription: FOR THE PROTECTION OF WORKERS AND can be seen. The remaining two words BAUERN-MACHT are covered by the soldier's portrait. The reverse shows the four-line inscription: Internationale / Großveranstaltung / VEB Fahrzeugwerk / Waltershausen . The medal was worn with a clasp that is identical to the NVA reservist badge on the upper left side of the chest.

Authorization to carry

The badges issued for this occasion were allowed to be worn on the left breast pocket ten days before and on the day in question. The prerequisite for this was that the badge was intended to be worn at all, since there were also non-wearable ones. After the celebrations, the badge had to be removed, but remained in the possession of the borrower.
