Badge of Honor of the ASV Forward

The badge of honor of the Army Sports Association Forward was a non-governmental award of the National People's Army of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was introduced in 1963 in three stages.

Appearance and wearing style

The badge of honor is oval, 25 mm high, 21 mm wide and is made of non-ferrous metal . The bronze , silver or gold-plated pin, depending on the award , shows the emblem of the Army Sports Association Forward on its frontand the transverse state flag of the GDR above it. This is represented in the form of three squares placed side by side, which, starting from the left, are enamelled in black, red and gold. The state coat of arms of the GDR can be seen in the central square. The ASV symbol is surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves, which consists of two oak leaves crossed at the bottom with two oak leaves. The middle is held together by an acorn. The back shows a horizontal needle soldered crosswise with a counter-hook. From 1976 the colored applications were no longer enamelled, but lacquered and then covered with polyester resin.
