Jules Leguerrier OMI (born February 18, 1915 in Clarence Creek , Ontario , Canada , † June 8, 1995 ) was a Canadian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Moosonee .

Life

Jules Leguerrier joined the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in and received on 19 June 1943, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On April 21, 1964, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the titular bishop of Bavagaliana and Apostolic Vicar of James Bay. The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil , Archbishop Sebastiano Baggio , donated him episcopal ordination on June 29 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the Vicar Apostolic of Labrador , Lionel Scheffer OMI, and the Apostolic Vicar Emeritus of James Bay, Henri Belleau OMI.

Leguerrier attended the third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council . On July 13, 1967, Jules Leguerrier became the first bishop of Moosonee as a result of the elevation of the Vicariate Apostolic James Bay to the diocese . On November 26, 1991, Pope John Paul II accepted Leguerrier's resignation due to reasons of age.
