Joseph Marie Henri Belleau OMI (born October 8, 1896 in Ottawa , Canada , † January 5, 1976 ) was a Canadian religious and Roman Catholic Vicar Apostolic of James Bay .

Life

Henri Belleau joined the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in and received on 18 December 1920, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 11, 1939, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Perrhe and for the first Vicar Apostolic of James Bay. The Archbishop of Québec , Jean-Marie-Rodrigue Cardinal Villeneuve OMI, donated him episcopal ordination on February 3, 1940 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Timmins , Louis Rhéaume OMI, and the Bishop of Gravelbourg , Joseph-Wilfrid Guy OMI.

Belleau attended the first and second sessions of the Second Vatican Council . On April 21, 1964, he resigned as Vicar Apostolic of James Bay.
