Julia Männchen (born May 1, 1939 in Dresden ; † January 1, 2018 in Greifswald ) was a German scholar of the Old Testament.

Life

Männchen worked as a medical technical assistant (MTA) for five years . She studied theology in Leipzig and came to Greifswald in 1968, where she became a research assistant and soon began teaching Hebrew. After receiving her doctorate in Greifswald in 1984 ( Gustaf Dalman's life and work in the Brethren, for the Jewish mission and at the University of Leipzig 1855–1902 ) and her habilitation in 1991 ( Gustaf Dalman as a Palestine scholar in Jerusalem and Greifswald 1902–1941 ), she taught there until 2004 On her retirement, Männchen received the title of adjunct professor .
