Julia Schmid (born July 2, 1988 in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee ) is an Austrian canoeist .

Career

Schmid began her sporting career in 2004. She celebrated her first international start at the 2004 Junior Canoe Slalom European Championships in Krakow , where she was 14th in the singles and ninth in the team.

She celebrated her first international medals at the Canoe Slalom World Championships 2005 in Penrith , where she won the bronze medal as a team. In the same year she also won bronze in the team at the Canoe Slalom European Championships in Tacen in 2005 . In the following years she missed further medals, mostly clearly. It was not until the U23 European Championship in 2011 that she managed to win a silver medal again with the team.

In the World Cup seasons 2012 and 2013, she won the world ranking races in Leipzig and Solkan in the C-1 . At the 2013 European Canoe Slalom Championships , she won the silver medal in the same discipline.

At the 2014 European Canoe Slalom Championships in Vienna , she again secured silver in the Canadier .

After a comeback at the end of the 2010s , Schmid is now starting for the Hungarian Canoe Association MKKSz.

Private

Schmid has been studying English and Romance languages in Klagenfurt and veterinary medicine in Munich since 2009 .
