Julianus Kemo Sunarko SJ (born December 25, 1941 in Minggir, † June 26, 2020 in Semarang ) was an Indonesian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Purwokerto .

Life

Julianus Kemo Sunarko joined the order of the Jesuits , studied philosophy and theology in the Netherlands and was ordained a priest on December 3, 1975 by Justinus Cardinal Darmojuwono , Archbishop of Semarang . Among other things, he was treasurer of the Archdiocese of Semarang and the Indonesian Jesuit Province.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Purwokerto on May 10, 2000. He was ordained bishop by the Archbishop of Jakarta , Julius Riyadi Cardinal Darmaatmadja SJ, on September 8 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Alexander Soetandio Djajasiswaja , Bishop of Bandung , and Ignatius Suharyo Hardjoatmodjo , Archbishop of Semarang .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on December 29, 2016. He was active in pastoral care until the end.
