Julius Binder (born February 12, 1925 in Baldingen ; resident in Baldingen and Baden ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ). He represented the canton of Aargau in both the National Council and the Council of States .

biography

The son of a farmer received his secondary education at the Schwyz college . From 1944 Binder studied law at the University of Lausanne and the University of Bern . In 1949 he graduated as Dr. iur. ab, four years later he opened his own law firm in Baden. Binder's political career began in 1957 when he was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Aargau, of which he was a member until 1972. From 1961 to 1965, Binder was also a member of the Baden city ​​council . At cantonal level, he was involved in drafting a new cantonal constitution as a constitutional councilor from 1973 to 1980 (as president until 1974).

In 1963 Binder was elected to the National Council, from 1967 to 1975 he was also a member of the presidium of CVP Switzerland. After a four-year break from federal politics, he was elected to the Council of States in 1979 . In the election of the successor to Federal Councilor Hans Hürlimann in 1982 he received 60 votes; Ultimately, Alphons Egli was elected . In 1987, Binder finally withdrew from national politics.
