Juncus subulatus is a species of the rush family(Juncaceae).

features

Juncus subulatus a is persistent rhizome - Geophyt , the plant height of 30 to 120 centimeters achieved. The rhizome is strong and creeping. The stem has 2 to 4 leaves without a transverse wall, which are 6 to 8 millimeters thick. The spirre is multi-flowered and loose. The flowers each have 2 bracts. The petals are straw yellow, 2.5 to 3.5 millimeters long and narrowly ovate to lanceolate.

The flowering period extends from May to June.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 42.

Occurrence

Juncus subulatus occurs in the southern Mediterranean from Morocco, Portugal and Spain to Central Asia. In Crete the species grows in salt marshes by the sea.
