Junimond is a German film drama from 2002 .
action
The two loners Paul and Nele meet in Paderborn. Paul wants to forget his terrible experiences as a KFOR soldier in Kosovo and Nele has problems with her parents, whose marriage threatens to break up after the children move out.
Both are firmly convinced that they just want to be friends, but nevertheless they are slowly getting closer and the love story could be perfect. But the two lonely souls maintain a platonic closeness and are only apparently satisfied with it. Then Paul goes to the doctor for an actually harmless examination because he feels tired. Shortly afterwards it becomes clear that he has advanced blood cancer - there is no more chance of a cure. Although both find each other in this difficult hour and confess their affection for each other, there is little time left for both of them: Paul gets weaker every day in the hospital and death seems to be getting closer and closer. Then Nele decides to grant him (just in time) a long-awaited wish - to drive an old Citroën DS through the Vosges in France into the sunrise.
Reviews
epd film : “Two sufferers, lonely people who find each other - in terms of the plot,“ Junimond ”sounds rather stereotypical. But the film is pretty much the opposite, full of ideas and small observations. "
