Juryj Anatolewytsch Omelchenko ( Ukrainian Юрий Анатольевич Омельченко ; born September 6, 1971 ) is a former Ukrainian orienteer . In 1995 he was world champion on the short distance.

Omelchenko started his first world championship in 1995 at the age of 23. In Detmold he was successful on the short distance. After mixed results at the 1997 and 1999 World Championships, he was second on the short distance behind Valentin Novikov from Russia at the 2000 European Championships in Truskavets, Ukraine . He also won the silver medal on the track at the European Championships in Hungary in 2002, this time behind the Italian Mikhail Mamleev from Russia . He was also third in the sprint behind the Swedes Emil Wingstedt and Håkan Petersson . At the following two world championships, he also won two silver medals. 2003 in Switzerland as second on the long distance behind the Swiss Thomas Bührer , in 2004 in the sprint behind Niclas Jonasson from Sweden.
