Justin Bornand

Justin Bornand (born March 15, 1816 in Sainte-Croix , † March 1, 1865 ibid) was a Swiss politician and judge . From 1851 to 1853 he was a member of the National Council.

biography

Bornand, like his father before him, was a businessman . From 1847 to 1849 he was a judge at the Civil District Court in Grandson . Also in 1847 he took part in the Sonderbund War as a rifle captain. In 1849 he was offered promotion to major, which he refused. In 1857 and 1860 he served as a military judge in 1859/60 as deputy chief judge .

In 1849 Bornand, who represented radical liberal views, was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Vaud . In the National Council elections in 1851 , he ran successfully in the constituency of Vaud-North . In 1853 he resigned from both the Grand Council and the National Council. From 1854 to 1861 he was Prefect of Sainte-Croix.
