Sporting Club Juvecaserta is a basketball club from Caserta, Italy . It has only existed in its current form since 2018, but the predecessor club Sporting Club Juventus Caserta , founded in 1951, played in Serie A1 from 1983 to 1994 and won the Italian Cup (1988) and the championship (1991) each . From 2003 to 2017 he competed under the name JuveCaserta and from 2008 to 2017, officially under the sponsor name Otto Caserta , was again represented in the top division of Italy. Sporting Club Juvecaserta plays home games in the 6,387-seat PalaMaggiò hall .

Club history

Sporting Club Juventus Caserta

In 1975 Juventus rose to Serie A2 for the first time, but had to relegate immediately. From 1978 the club was again represented in this league and rose in 1983, under the direction of coach Bogdan Tanjević and with the Brazilian scoring specialist Oscar Schmidt in its ranks, in the A1 series. 1986, the last season of Tanjević in Caserta, the club reached the finals in both the Italian championship and the Korać Cup . Juventus experienced its most successful period under his successor Franco Marcelletti , who was responsible for the sporting direction until 1992. In 1988 Caserta won the Italian Cup, the following year the club reached the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup , and in 1991 it won the Italian championship. In the following years, however, Juventus could no longer build on these successes and rose again in 1994 in the A2 series. In 1998 the association was finally dissolved for financial reasons.

JuveCaserta Basket

In 2003, with JuveCaserta Basket, an association was founded that was to build on the tradition of Juventus. In 2004 he got a license for LegADue , the 2nd Italian league, which was expanded by two clubs , and in 2008 he was promoted to Serie A. Two years later, Caserta reached the semifinals of the championship and took, after leaving in qualifying for the ULEB Euro League , 2010/11 at the ULEB Eurocup part. After the 2016/2017 season, the club's license for Serie A was withdrawn due to economic problems.

Sporting Club Juvecaserta

In 2018, the club returned to the third-rate Serie B as Sporting Club Juvecaserta.
