Łukasz Jacek Koszarek (born January 12, 1984 in Września , Poznan Voivodeship ) is a Polish basketball player . The national player and four-time European Championship finalist played almost exclusively for clubs in his home country, interrupted only by two seasons at the Italian first division club JuveCaserta. In his home country Koszarek won once the championship and once the cup competition.

Career

In 1999 Koszarek moved from his home country to the club from Warka , where many Polish talents were concentrated at the time. In 2003, the junior international moved to the capital Warsaw to Polonia, with whom he took third place twice in the Polish championship of the Polska Liga Koszykówki . After a tenth place in 2006, he left the club and moved to league rivals Turów from Zgorzelec . After being promoted again in 2004, the team reached the final series of the championship in second place of the regular season, in which they lost to defending champion Trefl Prokom Sopot after winning five games. After Koszarek had already made his debut in qualifying for the European Championship finals in 2005 in the Polish men's national team , he was able to qualify with the Polish selection for the European Championship finals tournament 2007 , in which Poland, however, lost all three preliminary round matches.

From the 2007/08 season Koszarek played two years for Anwil from Włocławek , with whom he finished third behind series champions Prokom Sopot and Turów in 2009. At the 2009 European Championship finals tournament in their own country, the Polish selection lost in the preliminary round after victories over Bulgaria and Lithuania only to Turkey . In the second round there was no more victory. From 2009 to 2011 Koszarek played in the Lega Basket Serie A for the Italian old master Pepsi JuveCaserta. After rising again two years earlier, Caserta reached second place after the regular season, but lost the last two games in a series of five games against record champions Olimpia Armani Milan in the play-off semi-final series . After Caserta failed in the first qualifying round for the ULEB Euroleague 2010/11 in two games at the later qualifier BK Chimki , the team reached the quarter-finals in the Eurocup 2010/11 , in which they defeated the eventual title winners UNICS Kazan retired. At the 2011 European Championship final tournament in Poland's neighboring country Lithuania, for which Poland was only qualified after increasing the number of participants, the Polish selection missed participation in the intermediate round after two wins and two defeats in the last preliminary round after a defeat against the British national basketball team .

For the 2011/12 season Koszarek returned to Poland and played for Trefl from Sopot , which had been re-established in Sopot in 2009 after the serial champions Asseco Prokom had been relocated to Gdynia . In the cup competition held as a league cup you could win the first title after the re-establishment, after beating Zastal Zielona Góra in their hall in the final. Koszarek was named MVP of the cup tournament. After Asseco Prokom played the regular season in the VTB United League , Trefl also achieved first place in the regular season in Poland. In the final series of the Polish championship, the two local rivals met and serial champion Asseco Prokom was able to prevail again in seven games and achieve the ninth title win in a row. For the 2012/13 season, Koszarek himself moved to the neighboring city to the series champion, with whom he was eliminated in the ULEB Euroleague 2012/13 after only two wins in ten preliminary round games. Afterwards, the team largely fell apart after financial problems within the season. While national team mate Adam Hrycaniuk moved to Spain, Koszarek went to Stelmet from Zielona Góra in March 2013 , who left the Lower Silesian rival Turów after four wins without defeat in the play-off final series of the championship no chance. At the European Championship finals in 2013 , the Polish selection only won the last and meaningless group game against hosts Slovenia and was eliminated early under the German national coach Dirk Bauermann . With the returnee Hrycaniuk Stelmet started in the ULEB Euroleague 2013/14 , where they continued to play after only two wins in ten preliminary round games in the intermediate round of the Eurocup 2013/14 . There they were eliminated from the international competitions in a group with the two later finalists UNICS Kazan and Valencia Basket Club . In a remake of the Polish championship final series, Stelmet lost the title to Koszarek's former team Turów Zgorzelec.
