The Kölner Brauhauswanderweg is a signposted footpath as well as a guided hike that leads past historical squares, churches and other historical sights of Cologne city center to long-established beer and breweries .

history

The Cologne brewer Hans Sion (1911–1998), the Hans Sion Foundation he founded and the writer Franz Mathar were the initiators of the Cologne Brewery Trail in 1997, which has been hiked by many thousands of Cologne and foreign guests since then. The intention was to explain the history of numerous sights in Cologne to tourists and locals during a guided “wet and happy” city walk - and during that time to stop in long-established beer and breweries to enjoy the local Kölschto taste and to provide information about the "Cologne brewery culture" on site. The Kölner Brauhauswanderweg is now offered as a guided tour or individual hike by the Kölner Brauerei-Verband eV.

The Kölner Brauhauswanderweg leads along the Römerstraße and the Roncalliplatz , past the Cologne Cathedral , the Romanesque Church of St. Andreas , the Heinzelmännchenbrunnen and the historic Cologne City Hall , via the Altermarkt and Fischmarkt , Salzgasse and Eisenmarkt, to the following 10 historical beer - and breweries:

  6. Haxenhaus to the Rheingarten
