The Kingdom of Córdoba ( Spanish : Reino de Córdoba ) was a ruled area in present-day Spain that was connected to the Kingdom of Castile-Léon .

The kingdom was founded in 1236 when King Ferdinand III. the saint of Castile conquered the Islamic-Moorish Taifa kingdom of Cordoba in the course of the Reconquista . As a Christian kingdom it was now associated with the Crown of Castile, with which it remained institutionally associated throughout its history.

Together with the kingdoms of Jaén (1246), Seville (1248) and Granada (1492), Cordoba formed one of the four kingdoms of Andalusia (cuatro reinos de Andalucía) of the crown of Castile. In the course of the territorial reorganization of Spain carried out by the Interior Minister Francisco Javier de Burgos in 1833, the kingdom was established in the province of Córdoba , which in turn formed the historical region of Andalusia with the provinces of Granada , Almería , Málaga , Cádiz , Huelva , Jaén and Seville 1982 as one of the 17 autonomous communities of Spain (Comunidad Autónoma) still exists today.
