Lists on the subject |
The K-10S ( Russian К-10С , NATO code name AS-2 Kipper ) was a supersonic, airborne, long-range anti-ship guided missile from Soviet production.
commitment
Development began in 1955 and commissioned in 1961. The missile was extremely large and about the size of a small fighter jet. A single missile has been under the hull of a 10 Tu-16K Badger C worn. The missile's long range allows it to be launched out of the range of any air defense system. It flies by means of a preprogrammed autopilot at an altitude of 10,000 meters until it descends at a distance of approximately 100 to 110 kilometers from the target at a flat 15 ° angle. At a distance of 60 to 70 kilometers from the target, the missile adopts a constant altitude of 800 to 1,000 meters and flies on this until it has reached a distance of 10 to 16 kilometers. At this point, the missile activates its active end-approach radar system and descends until it hits its target close to or just below the waterline. The K-10S could optionally be equipped with conventional or nuclear warheads . When the Tu-16 K was decommissioned in 1994, the missile was taken out of armament.
