The KRH Klinikum Agnes Karll Laatzen belongs to the Klinikum Region Hannover (KRH) . The acute clinic with 246 beds, named after the “nursing pioneer” Agnes Karll , is located south of the city limits of Hanover in Alt-Laatzen . Together with the KRH locations in Großburgwedel and Lehrte, it ensures inpatient medical care in the southern and eastern parts of the former district of Hanover (since 2001 Hanover region ).

The clinic offers a highly specialized range of therapies with supraregional importance and is also the academic teaching hospital of the Hannover Medical School .

history

At the beginning of the 1960s, a hospital was built on the site of an old brick factory in Laatzen with funding from the Agnes Karll Association . After the foundation stone was laid on February 11, 1966, the first patients were admitted on June 19, 1969.

On January 1, 1971, the district took over the sponsorship of the Agnes Karll Association.

The Agnes Karll Hospital and the Robert Koch Hospital in Gehrden became an economic unit with the regional reform in the Hanover administrative district on March 1, 1974 under the sponsorship of the Hanover district.

This unit was canceled again in 1978. In the same year, the Agnes-Karll Hospital was the first in the Hanover district to receive a computer tomograph for 1.5 million DM . In 1982 a central pharmacy was founded in Laatzen, which supplied all district hospitals at the time. In the 1980s and 1990s, new specialist clinics were founded and extensions were added.

In spring 2005 the new Klinikum Region Hannover GmbH took over the Agnes-Karll-Hospital.
