As Cabinet Cavaco Silva III , the 12th constitutional, freely elected Portuguese government after the Carnation Revolution in 1974 under Prime Minister Anibal Cavaco Silva called, in Portugal and XII Governo Constitucional de Portugal to German XII. called the constitutional government of Portugal. The cabinet was in office from October 31, 1991 to October 28, 1995.
Parliamentary elections 1995
In the parliamentary elections on October 6, 1991 , the Portuguese Social Democrats (PSD) again won an absolute majority, they received 50.6 percent of the vote and thus 135 of the 230 seats in the Assembleia da República . This enabled the Social Democrats under Prime Minister Cavaco Silva to continue their sole government.
The other parties achieved significantly lower results: the socialists improved to 29.13% (72 seats), the CDU list connection lost 3.34% and came to 8.8% (17 seats), the Christian-conservative CDS-PP was able to hold at a good 4.4% (5 mandates). The Partido da Solidariedade Nacional moved into parliament for the first time with one member (1.68%).
The leading candidate for the Portuguese Social Democrats, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, was sworn in on October 31, 1991.
