History, description and view

The foundation stone for the 18 m high tower with sandstone masonry was laid on August 9, 1903. It was inaugurated on June 5 and 6, 1904. Above the tower entrance, a bronze plaque with a quote from Friedrich Wilhelm Weber's epic Dreizehnlinden (1878) is embedded in the sandstone wall: "Old grove, from the tops of which the Irmensäule once protruded, which, to the pain and horror of the Saxons, King Karl, dared to burn."

The tower's viewing platform can be reached via 80 steps. From there, the view falls on Bad Driburg and, among other things, the 41 km east-northeast of Solling (max.  527.8  m ) and the Lipper Bergland with the 26 km northeast of the Köterberg ( 495.8  m ). The tower can be seen from afar from the east.
