description

Vegetative characteristics

Kalanchoe prittwitzii is a perennial , bald, glauke plant that reaches heights of 40 to 230 centimeters. Their shoots are erect or basal. The leaves that become glaucoma or glaucoma are petiolate. The leaf stalk, which is flattened and furrowed on the upper side, is slightly widened at its base and half encompasses the stem. It is 0.5 to 6 inches long. The egg-shaped, elongated or obovate leaf blade is occasionally three-lobed or consists of three partial leaves. Sometimes it is covered with chestnut or purple spots on the underside near its edge. Medium leaves are 6 to 25 inches long and 2.5 to 13 inches wide. Its tip is blunt, the base wedge-shaped. The leaf margin is roughly blunt-cut to notched or almost entire.

Generative characteristics

inflorescence

The loose inflorescence is multi-flowered paniculate cymes up to 35 centimeters long and 20 centimeters wide. The upright flowers are on 5 to 20 millimeter long flower stalks . Your calyx tube is 0.5 to 2 millimeters long. The lanceolate to lanceolate-awl calyx lobes are 6 to 22 millimeters long and 1.5 to 4 millimeters wide. The corolla is whitish or yellowish green to cream colored with a yellow throat or yellow and only rarely yellowish pink. The cylindrical corolla tube, enlarged at its base, is 13 to 28 millimeters long. Their elongated ovate to ovate-lanceolate corolla lobes have an attached tip. They are 6 to 18 millimeters long and 3 to 7 millimeters wide. The stamens are attached near the tip of the corolla tube and barely protrude from the flower. The elongated anthers are 0.8 to 3 millimeters long. The linear-awl nectar flakes are 2 to 3 millimeters long. The linear-lanceolate carpel has a length of 7 to 14 millimeters. The stylus is 4 to 13 millimeters long.

Systematics and distribution

Kalanchoe prittwitzii is widespread in Central and East Africa , Sudan , Ethiopia and Somalia on the edges of forests, in open bush and grassland, on stony ground or on rocky slopes at altitudes of 450 to 2200 meters.

The first description by Adolf Engler was published in 1907.
