description

Vegetative characteristics

Kalanchoe welwitschii is a perennial , completely bare, glaucoma plant that reaches heights of 1 to 2 meters. Their stalk-round, straight shoots are upright. The leaves are stalked. The petiole is 1.5 to 7.5 inches long. Their ovate to lanceolate leaf blades are 9 to 25 inches long and 3.5 to 12 inches wide. Its tip is blunt or pointed, the base rounded, wedge-shaped or narrowed. The leaf margin is whole, notched or serrated.

Generative characteristics

The inflorescence consists of loose, even panicles and is 8 to 30 centimeters long. The upright flowers are on peduncles up to 22 millimeters long . The calyx tube is 1 to 2 millimeters long. The green, broadly lanceolate, rather long, pointed calyx lobes are 5 to 9 millimeters long and 1.3 to 3 millimeters wide. The corolla, which is green at its base, is pale yellow, bright sulfur yellow to orange in color. The pyramidal, sharp square corolla tube is 16 to 25 millimeters long. Their egg-shaped, suddenly pointed, thorn-pointed corolla lobes are 7 to 11 millimeters long and 4 to 7 millimeters wide. The stamens are attached to the base of the corolla tube. Four of them are attached a little below the throat. The upper stamens almost protrude from the flower. The entire, slightly pointed nectar flakes are about 7 millimeters long. The carpel has a length of up to 16 millimeters. The stylus is 6 to 9 millimeters long.

Systematics and distribution
