In Germany she was best known for her installation At Crossroads in front of the Brandenburg Gate in 2009, organized by the Akademie der Künste . The 13-meter-high installation consisted of nine Turkish boats, stranded in Greece, with which refugees from the Middle East reached the Greek coast. Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, it addressed the fate of refugees trying to reach the European Union by sea in a central location in Europe . She was part of a trilogy; Kalliopi Lemos placed similar sculptures under the names Crossing and Round Voyage since 2006 near an archaeological site in the Athens suburb Elefsina and in Santralistanbul , a museum for contemporary art in Istanbul .
