The village of Kamperland belongs to the island municipality of Noord-Beveland in the Dutch province of Zeeland on the Oosterschelde .
Population development
In 2001 the population of the core town was 1,339 people. In 2006 there were already 1,407 inhabitants. The statistics for the total population, which also include surrounding areas, counted 2,049 inhabitants in January 2008.
history
The region where the village of Kamperland stands today was previously known as camping and is mentioned as early as 976. The name is derived from the Latin campus, the "field" or "closed areas". From 1170 camping was listed as a separate municipality. Over the centuries the place developed further and the Campen region became Kamperland.
tourism
Kamperland offers two yacht harbors that are particularly popular with yachtsmen. In the summer months, boats with anglers drive from Kamperland to the fishing grounds.
