Canton of Hamm

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The canton of Hamm was created in 1808 as part of the administrative reform in the Grand Duchy of Berg at the district level and was part of the Hamm arrondissement in the Ruhr department . In 1808, the canton of Hamm split up into the municipality of Hamm and firstly the municipalities of the previous office of Hamm , secondly the municipalities of the Haaren / Untrop court, namely Untrop , Haaren , Schmeehausen , Norddinker , Frielinghausen , Vöckinghausen and thirdly the municipalities of the Reck court, namely Reck , Berg-Kamen , Overberge , Rottum, Derne, Lerche . At a later point in time, the subdivision into the municipalities of Hamm , Pelkum and Rhynern can be found. The canton was not headed by an additional administrative officer, but the municipalities were directly subordinate to the sub-prefect of the Hamm arrondissement .
