The canton of Sucre is an administrative district in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The canton of Sucre is one of thirteen cantons of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Sucre in the province of Oropeza and is located in the central part of the district. It borders in the north on the canton of Huata , in the northwest on the municipality Poroma , in the west on the canton San Sebastian , in the south on the municipality Yotala , and in the east on the canton San Lazaro .
The canton extends between 18 ° 56 '30 "and 19 ° 07' southern latitude and 65 ° 13 'and 65 ° 20' 30" western latitude, it measures up to ten kilometers from north to south and from west to east. The central place of the canton is the city of Sucre with 338,281 inhabitants ( 2012 ) in the central part of the canton.
