The Municipio Poroma is a district in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of Poroma is one of three municipalities in the province of Oropeza and includes its northwestern area. It is bordered by the Potosí Department to the north and west, the Sucre Municipality to the south , and the Cochabamba Department to the east .

The municipality extends between about 18 ° 21 'and 18 ° 57' south latitude and 65 ° 00 'and 65 ° 42' west longitude, its expansion from west to east is up to 40 kilometers, from north to south up to 55 kilometers .

The municipality comprises 186 municipalities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the village Poroma with 680 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the northern part of the district.

The Municipio Poroma is located in the central part of the Bolivian Cordillera Central , between the Altiplano in the west and the Bolivian lowlands in the east.
