Kappel is a district of the municipality of Lenzkirch in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district in Baden-Württemberg .

The place is located on the southern slope of the Hochfirstrücken at around 900 m above sea level in the middle of the Southern Black Forest nature park , near Schluchsee, Titisee-Neustadt and the Feldberg area.

Kappel is characterized by tourism due to its location and climate. In addition to various hotels and pensions, there are a few handicraft businesses that provide employment in the village. Many of the 785 residents commute to industrial plants in the near and far.

The surrounding landscape offers a starting point for hikes, bike tours or winter sports. The entrance to the Wutach Gorge is in the eastern part of the municipality . There Haslach and Gutach flow together and become Wutach. Half of the 2500 plant species in Central Europe can be found here alone.

Since June 2008 the Bähnleradweg has been running on the former Kappel Gutachbrücke - Bonndorf railway line (in the Black Forest) . The route can now be mastered by bike or on foot without any major increase in altitude. It leads past the former station Kappel Gutachbrücke , to the Kappler gravel pit and from there on Mühlenweg along the old railway viaduct in the previous loop mill. The former Kappel-Grünwald train station is also on the route .

Leisure activities are offered in summer through events organized by local clubs or the unheated outdoor pool. This bath is carried by a support association in cooperation with the community. In winter, a ski lift on the Gutachhalde or various cross-country trails can be used.

The place is mentioned in a document as Capella (1275) Kapelle (1337), Cappell (around 1365) and Cappel (1382). The local St. Gallus Church originally belonged to the Grünwald Monastery and was consecrated in 1695.

On January 1, 1975, Kappel was incorporated into Lenzkirch.
