Kappenberger + Braun (abbreviation: K + B ) is a family-run company based in Cham (Upper Palatinate) in Bavaria . It is divided into the two company divisions electrical engineering with installation of electrical systems and production as well as retail in the K + B expert specialist stores. K + B is a member of expert AG's specialist trade cooperation .
history
The company was founded on July 1, 1960 by Josef Kappenberger and Michael Braun as an electrical, radio and television retail company with six employees in Cham , Upper Palatinate . The first expansion of the sales area and workshops took place in the mid-1960s.
In 1971, a new electronics retail store was opened at Steinmarkt 12 with around 800 square meters of retail space and an attached warehouse, office and workshop. In the following year, K + B became a member of the specialist trade cooperation expert . K + B expanded again in 1975 and opened a new plant in the Janahof district of Cham.
Towards the end of the 1980s, the expansion course was continued and in 1985 the first K + B expert specialist store with associated service workshop opened in Regen, Lower Bavaria . A short time later, the company's third branch was opened in Neufahrn near Freising . With the political changes in the Eastern Bloc countries, Kappenberger + Braun dared to enter the Czechoslovakian market . A contract for the supply of consumer electronics and household appliances has been signed with the state-owned retail chain Tuzex .
In the 1990s, K + B built up its own dealer network for wholesalers and retailers and opened further K + B expert specialist stores. The subsidiary Kappenberger + Braun Elektro-Technik sro was founded in Pilsen , Czech Republic . In 1998 the new headquarters in the Czech Republic was completed in Prague .
With the opening of further specialist stores in Waldkirchen , Bad Kötzting and Amberg , the branch network in Eastern Bavaria was expanded. Stores in Příbram and Ústí nad Labem were also opened in the neighboring Czech Republic . In 2009 the branch network in the Czech Republic was expanded to include four more K + B expert specialist stores. Since the 1990s there have also been two branches in Thuringia , in Ilmenau and Rudolstadt .
In 2010 the company entered the Slovakian market with locations in Snina and Rimavská Sobota and opened four more in 2011.
Corporate structure
Kappenberger + Braun can be divided into two corporate divisions: electrical engineering with installation and production and, on the other hand, electronics retailing in specialist stores in Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In the field of electrical engineering, K + B sells products in lighting technology, communications technology, communication technology, safety technology, automation and environmental technology. The installation of photovoltaic systems is also part of the field of activity.
The product range includes machine and system controls, control cabinets for measurement and control technology, console systems and control room technology, reactive power control systems, communication cabinets and low-voltage switchgear.
