Karim Samir Lotfy (born April 21, 1989 in Cairo ) is an Egyptian high jumper.

Career

Karim Lofty gained his first international experience at the 2005 World Youth Championships in Marrakech , where he came 8th in the final with 2.08 m. Later in the year he increased himself to 2.16 m at the Junior African Championships in Tunis , with which he won the silver medal. In 2006 he did not qualify for the final of the Junior World Championships in Beijing with 2.10 m . Karim Lotfy has been training at the Sport University in Cologne since January 5, 2007 . At the Africa Games in 2007 in Algiers he was seventh with 2.15 m and at the 2007 Pan-Arab Games in Cairo he was sixth with 2.11 m. In addition, he won his renewed participation in the Junior African Championships held this time in Ouagadougou with 2.17 m. On January 10th, 2008 he jumped two new Egyptian national records when he won the Cologne indoor meeting high jump with music with 2.18 m and 2.21 m. On January 18, 2008, he was at the international jumpers' meeting in Wuppertal, which was organized by Wolfgang Ritzdorf until 2007 , and jumped just over the new national record with 2.20 m. He achieved the national record in the hall of 2.24 m on February 29, 2008 at a competition in Chemnitz. Karim Lotfy jumped a new Egyptian record of 2.25 m in June 2008 at the junior competition in Eberstadt . He had already been fourth at the African Championships in Addis Ababa with a skipped 2.15 m, two weeks after his national record he came 14th at the Junior World Championships in Bydgoszcz, not more than 2.08 m. In 2009 he was seventh at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara with a season best of 2.21 m and fifth at the Francophonie Games in Beirut with 2.20 m. The Arab championships held in Damascus , he won with 2.16 m. The following year he placed 6th at the African Championships in Nairobi with 2.06 m.

Later he was a member of TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen . Karim studied International Management at the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef - Bonn . He then studied web design and development at the SAE Institute Cologne as a bachelor's degree and worked as a web front-end developer alongside his studies . Lotfy has no siblings and lives with his family in Cairo when he is not in Germany.
