Karin Prokop

Karin Maria Ilona Prokop (born February 11, 1966 in Tulln an der Donau , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian trainer , politician ( Team Stronach , formerly ÖVP ) and former handball player .

Life

education and profession

Karin Prokop was born in 1966 as the daughter of Gunnar Prokop and Liese Prokop . She grew up with two brothers. From 1972 to 1976 Prokop attended the elementary school in Südstadt, from 1976 to 1980 the Bundesgymnasium Mödling Keimgasse and from 1980 to 1985 the Handelsakademie Mödling where she graduated from high school . She then began studying business education.

After working as a sales representative for Niederösterreichische Versicherung for six months in 1993 , she worked for an insurance broker from 1993 to 1994. From 1994 to 1996 she acted as sports coordinator for women at the Austrian handball association . In this role she was mainly responsible for organizing the handball world championship for women in 1995 . From November 1996 to August 2002 Prokop worked in various positions for Magna International .

Prokop has been self-employed since August 2002 and offers seminars, coaching and constellation seminars . Her own company, PPP Prokop Personalberatung KEG, has existed since February 2004. From 2004 to 2007 she completed a university course in mental coaching .

Athletic career

Propok grew up in a family in which handball played an important role, so both her father and mother were active in this sport. Prokop himself played handball from 1977 to 1995. From 1982 she played in the first team of Hypo Niederösterreich , with which she was six times European Cup winner . In 1984 she was appointed to the Austrian national team.

Among other things, she participated in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and 1992 in Barcelona in part, and at the international school World Cup 1984 in Marseille , the Junior World Championship in 1985 in Seoul and the European Championship in 1994 in Germany .

Political career

Like her mother, Karin Prokop became politically active for the ÖVP after her sporting career ended . For this party she was elected to the municipal council of Maria Enzersdorf . With effect from August 21, 2012, Prokop resigned her function as managing councilor and only exercised her mandate as councilor.

After a legal dispute, she moved her center of life back to Lower Austria in 2015.
