Karin Steinbach Tarnutzer (born November 2, 1966 in Würzburg ) is a German - Swiss book author , editor and alpine journalist .

Life

Karin Steinbach Tarnutzer grew up in Ismaning near Munich . After graduating from high school in 1985, she trained as a publishing clerk at Bergverlag Rudolf Rother . From 1988 to 1993 Steinbach studied Modern German Literature with the minor subjects Communication Science / Newspaper Science and Market and Advertising Psychology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 1993 to 1995 she was the final editor at the magazine of the Süddeutsche Zeitung . Subsequently, between 1995 and 2001, she was editor and editor-in-chief at BLV Verlag Munich for sport and alpinism. From 2001 to 2006 she was an editor at AS Verlag Zurich for mountaineering and tourism. Karin Steinbach Tarnutzer has been working as a freelance alpine journalist, book author and editor in St. Gallen since 2006 .

She has lived in Switzerland since 2001 and has had both German and Swiss citizenship since 2008. Karin Steinbach Tarnutzer has been an enthusiastic alpinist since early youth and was a specialist training manager for high-altitude tours in the German Alpine Club and head of section tours .
