Karl-Andreas Freiherr von Stenglin
Karl-Andreas Freiherr von Stenglin (born April 21, 1944 in Vienna ) is a former German diplomat who was last ambassador to Malta from 2006 to 2009 .
Life
After graduating from high school , von Stenglin began studying law in 1964 , which he completed in 1969 with the first state examination in law and in 1974 with the second state examination in law.
He then joined in 1975 in the Foreign Service , and found after completion of the career examination for the senior civil service in 1977 initially used as a speaker in the East and South Africa Department of the Foreign Office before he the ambassador in subsequent 1980-1982 Permanent Representative of Uganda was . After finishing this activity he was first class councilor and advisor for legal and consular affairs at the embassy in Czechoslovakia until 1985 and then again advisor at the Foreign Office in Bonn .
Thereupon von Stenglin was permanent representative of the ambassador in Senegal between 1988 and 1990 and, after his return to the Federal Republic, deputy head of the department for humanitarian aid at the Foreign Office in Bonn, where he was responsible for the former Soviet Union , Yugoslavia , the Near and Middle East .
After serving as head of the political department at the embassy in India from 1994 to 1998, he was head of the personal office of the former Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker in the Federal President's Office in Berlin until 2005 . After completing this activity, he was temporarily business agent ad interim at the embassy in Tajikistan and Laos from 2005 to 2006 .
On July 20, 2006, Karl Andreas von Stenglin received his accreditation as the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Malta as the successor to Georg Merten . He held this position until his retirement and his subsequent replacement by Bernd Braun in 2009. On November 16, 2007 he was made an Honorary Companion of the National Order of Merit of Malta.
