Karl-Hans Kern

Karl-Hans Kern (born October 3, 1932 in Stuttgart ; † May 21, 2014 ) was a German SPD politician and Protestant pastor . From 1967 to 1976 he was a member of the German Bundestag .

Life

Kern graduated from high school in 1952 and then studied Protestant theology in Tübingen , Bethel and Göttingen . From 1957 to 1959 he was vicar of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg , then until 1967 a teacher at a grammar school in Schwenningen am Neckar , now part of Villingen-Schwenningen . He was a member of the state executive committee of the SPD Baden-Württemberg and was a member of the Schwenningen municipal council from 1962 to 1967 . During this time he was parliamentary group leader of the SPD in the local council from 1963.

Kern moved up to the Bundestag on February 27, 1967. He was a member of the Bundestag for the next two legislative periods up to 1976, when he entered the SPD state list of Baden-Württemberg both times. In his first period, the fifth, Kern was initially a deputy member of the Legal Committee. After a few months he was a full member of the committee in 1968, but again only a deputy in the sixth legislative term. Kern was on the Foreign Affairs Committee in the sixth and seventh electoral terms, and also on the Committee on Technology and Research in the seventh. During his tenure, he was also a deputy member of various other committees. He also represented Germany as a delegate in the General Assembly of the United Nations .

From 1982 to 1998, Kern was school dean in the Protestant church districts of Heilbronn and Brackenheim . In Heilbronn he also held numerous honorary positions, devoted himself to suicide preventive and telephone counseling , was chairman of the local Workers' Samaritan Federation and the Association of Senior Citizens for others and 2002/2003 President of the Heilbronner Rotarians . In the Heilbronn district of Biberach he was a member of the district advisory board .
