Karl-Heinrich Bieritz

Karl-Heinrich Bieritz , also: Karl-Heinz Bieritz (born December 10, 1936 in Schmalkalden ; † August 5, 2011 in Ihlowerfehn ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian , university professor and author .

Life

Karl-Heinrich Bieritz, son of the window dresser Erich Bieritz and Käthe Köhler, grew up in Schmalkalden, Thuringia, where he graduated from high school in 1955. He then began studying Protestant theology at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena , which he completed there in 1960 with the First Theological Examination. From 1960 to 1964 Theology as a research assistant at the Institute of Practical Theology Faculty of the Jena operates Bieritz in 1963 with the work of the High Church movement in Germany and the design of the measuring worship for Dr. theol. PhD. In the following year Bieritz was first assistant preacher, then pastor of the parish Sagard on Rügen. In 1969 he moved to Barth as a pastor and became superintendent of the Barth parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .

In 1972 Karl-Heinrich Bieritz was appointed lecturer in practical theology at the Theological Seminary in Leipzig , a position he held for fourteen years before he became editor at Union Verlag in East Berlin in 1986 . His book The Church Year , which appeared there and, initially as a West German licensed edition, by CH Beck in the same year, developed into a standard work, had seven editions by 2005 and was translated into Dutch, Italian and Japanese. With the work on the teaching of worship. Contributions to the task, the subject and the process of liturgy as a discipline of practical theology , Bierietz completed his habilitation in 1989 at the Humboldt University in Berlin , where he taught as a private lecturer in religious education and practical theology until 1992. In 1992 Karl-Heinrich Bieritz was appointed professor of practical theology at the University of Rostock , where he taught until his retirement in 2002. Bieritz was married to the lawyer Renate Bieritz-Harder and spent his retirement in Ihlow, East Frisia . He was buried in the Ihlowerfehn cemetery.

Bieritz was u. a. Expert advisor to the Liturgical Committee of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Germany and the Evangelical Church of the Union . He accompanied their major reform projects, the Renewed Agende , the Evangelical Worship Book and the revision of the pericopes . It was his special concern to make the knowledge of semiotics usable for the liturgy.
