Karl Albert Bergmeier

Karl Albert Bergmeier , also Bergmeyer , (born March 28, 1856 in Berlin , † February 28, 1897 in Steglitz ) was a German sculptor .

Life

He began his studies in 1873 at the Berlin Art Academy under Albert Wolff and Fritz Schaper , he continued it from 1876 to 1877 as a master student with Reinhold Begas .

After receiving the Prussian State Prize in 1881 and the associated stay in Rome in the Villa Strohl-Fern in 1883, he taught at the teaching institute of the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin from 1882 .

Between 1888 and 1891, alongside Karl Begas (1845–1916), Karl Bernewitz (1858–1934) and Johann Götz (1865–1934), he was involved in the execution of the Neptune Fountain in Berlin; Reinhold Begas was in charge of the entire project.

In the same period he created the Hasselbach Fountain in Magdeburg, inaugurated in 1890 , a fountain monument for the former Lord Mayor Gustav Hasselbach , based on his winning design in a competition held in 1883/1884.

Since 1881 he was married to Louise Deutsch.
