Karl Ambrosius Joseph Johann Baptist of Austria-Este (born November 2, 1785 in Milan , † September 2, 1809 in Tata ) was Archbishop of Gran and Prince-Primate of Hungary .

Life

His parents were Ferdinand of Austria and Maria Beatrice d'Este . Karl Ambrosius was appointed bishop of Vác on November 17, 1806 . He received the sacrament of ordination on November 4, 1807.

On March 16, 1808, he became Archbishop of Gran . He was ordained bishop on July 24, 1808, by the Archbishop of Eger , István Fischer de Nagy . Co- consecrators were Jozef Ignác Wilt , Bishop of Győr (Raab) , and Lipót Perlaki Somogy , Bishop of Szombathely . As Archbishop of Gran he was also the Primate of Hungary .

Archbishop Karl Ambrosius died at the age of 23. He was buried in the Saint Adalbert Cathedral in Gran, his tomb was created in 1826 by the Italian sculptor Giuseppe Pisani .
