Istvan Fischer de Nagy

István Fischer de Nagy (born October 21, 1754 in Bacskó , ( Kingdom of Hungary , now Slovakia ), † July 4, 1822 in Eger , Hungary) was the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Eger .

Life

Baron Istvan Fischer de Nagy was ordained a deacon in Eger on March 11, 1780, and a priest on March 31, 1782, also in Eger .

On March 23, 1804 he was appointed the first bishop of Satu Mare by imperial decree Francis I. This appointment was confirmed by Pope Pius VII on August 20, 1804. He was consecrated on November 18, 1804 by the Archbishop of Eger Ferenc Fuchs . He initially lived as a guest in the castle of the Károlyi Erdödi count family until his residence was completed. He founded an episcopal lyceum , the seminary in Satu Mare. and laid the foundation stone for the cathedral .

The emperor appointed him Archbishop of Eger on July 10, 1807, which was also confirmed by Pius VII on September 18 of the same year.

Archbishop Istvan Fischer de Nagy died on July 14, 1822 and was buried in the crypt of Eger Cathedral.
