Karl August Fritzsche

Karl August Fritzsche (* 26. February 1871 in Leipzig , † September 1944 ) was a German producer and chairman of the supervisory board of the joint stock company Schimmel & Co.

Life

The son of Hermann Traugott Fritzsche and his first wife Josefine, née Brucker (1848–1872), attended the royal high school in his hometown after middle school and secondary school , which he left at Easter 1890 with the school leaving certificate. He then studied from 1891 to 1892 at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Leipzig . As part of his training as a businessman, he spent 18 months in England , one year in France , six months in Italy and two years in the United States . He then traveled to India and East Asia before joining his father's company as a partner in the summer of 1900.

Here he made particular merits with regard to the cooperation between the company and the university. After the death of his uncle Ernst Traugott Fritzsche , he took over the management of the company and converted the company into a stock corporation on January 1, 1927.

In 1916 he was appointed to the Commerce Council. He was also chairman of the association of manufacturers of essential oils and artificial fragrances and a member of the main committee of the Reich Association of German Industry .

To mark the 100th anniversary of his company, he was of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Leipzig, whose honorary senator , he was the honorary doctorate and by the Rector and Senate of the Technical University of Wroclaw for Doktoringenieur appointed honorary.

Following a good tradition of his family, he sponsored numerous charitable projects and founded the Hermann-und-Ernst-Fritzsche-Stiftung in 1929 with a share capital of 200,000 Reichsmarks to support pensioners and their survivors of his company.

Karl August Fritsche died unmarried in Leipzig in the midst of the turmoil of the Second World War and was buried in the family grave in the New Johannisfriedhof .
