Hermann Traugott Fritzsche (born November 15, 1843 in Leipzig ; † July 24, 1906 in Marienbad ) was a German businessman and owner of the Schimmel & Co.

Life

Hermann Traugott Fritzsche was the eldest son of his father Hermann Traugott Fritzsche and his wife Henriette Luise, née Magnus (1820–1897). After several years abroad in France , England , Italy and America , during which he got to know the requirements of international business in detail and established important international trade relationships, he joined his father's company as a partner on October 1, 1868. He was instrumental in the establishment of the first industrial research laboratory natural for the production and development of artificial fragrances and flavorings involved, through which the company Schimmel & Co. to the world market leader in this sector rose.

After his father left the company management in 1883, Hermann Traugott Fritzsche became the sole owner. Under his leadership, the company expanded rapidly. In 1901 he moved the company headquarters to Miltitz and began the industrial large-scale production of essential oils , natural and artificial fragrances and aromatic substances, perfume oils , perfume bases, essences, extracts and aromas. At the same time he founded numerous branches of his company in Europe . In keeping with his motto: Only the best of the best , he attached great importance to the quality of his products. Fritzsche is one of the founders of the essential oils industry in Germany and around the world.

Because of his services to the German economy, he received numerous honors, including the appointment to the secret council of commerce .

Hermann Traugott Fritzsche was first married to Josefine Henriette Elisabeth Brucker (1847–1872), a daughter of the Frankfurt merchant Johann August Brucker, and from 1874 in second marriage to her younger sister Anna Dorothea Luise (1854–1903). His eldest son, Hermann Traugott, died on December 23, 1877 at the age of 8. His second oldest son, Karl August Fritzsche , ran the company from 1916. The sons from their second marriage, Eugen Heinrich (1877–1899) and Otto Hermann Fritzsche , died at a young age.

Hermann Traugott Fritzsche jun. passed away surprisingly during a cure in Marienbad. He was buried in the family crypt in the New Johannisfriedhof in Leipzig. The successor in the company management was his brother Ernst Traugott Fritzsche .
