Karl Bienenstein (born November 1, 1869 in Wieselburg , † February 1, 1927 in Bruck an der Mur ) was an Austrian German national poet , storyteller and writer .

Life

Karl Bienenstein was born in Wieselburg an der Erlauf in Lower Austria . He attended the teachers' seminar in St. Pölten and worked as a teacher in various places in Lower Austria. In the summer of 1904, Bienenstein moved to the Lower Styrian town of Marburg, (today Maribor , Slovenia ) where he initially taught as a specialist teacher from August 29, 1904, but was soon promoted to the position of director of the local school .

After the overthrow Bienenstein, like almost all German teachers was funded by the National Government SHS in Ljubljana / Ljubljana dismissed April 1, 1919 from the school system and the lack of possibility to earn compelled to migrate. He opted for Austria and on August 29, 1919 got a job as a citizen school director in Bruck an der Mur. Appointed school councilor, Karl Bienenstein lived and worked in this Styrian city until his untimely death in 1927 .

In addition to his professional and literary activities, Karl Bienenstein also wrote book reviews and short stories for various newspapers. The good friend Peter Roseggers made a name for himself above all as a realistic narrator who was close to nature. Bienenstein's estate is in the literary archive of the Austrian National Library .
