Charles Busaeus

Karl Busäus , also Busaeus , (born December 3, 1714 in Mainz , † 1782 in Bamberg ) was a German Jesuit priest , theologian and university professor .

Life

Busäus' early training is unknown. On July 12, 1733 he entered the Jesuit order. He was ordained a priest and received a doctorate theologiae . He received a professorship in theology at the University of Fulda . He stayed there until 1758. Then he went to the Academia Bambergensis .

Busäus became both professor and prefect of the upper schools as well as chancellor of the university. From 1764 to 1768 he held the office of rector of the university and, as rector, he also headed the Bamberg Jesuit College . After the dissolution of the Jesuit order in 1773, he stayed with a large number of former friars in Bamberg.
