Karl Diehl (economist)

Karl Diehl (born March 27, 1864 in Frankfurt am Main ; † May 12, 1943 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German economist who taught in Freiburg im Breisgau from 1908 until his death.

Life

In 1888 he received his doctorate, in 1890 his habilitation , in 1893 he was appointed professor in Halle, in 1898 he was called to Rostock , in 1899 he was called to Königsberg , from 1908 until his retirement in 1933 Diehl was professor of economics and finance in Freiburg.

In addition to economists such as Adolf Weber and Julius Wolf , he was on the side of Max Weber in the value judgment dispute , whose supporters took the position that value judgments were not scientifically demonstrable and therefore incompatible with objective science.

Diehl was a main representative of the social law school .

His grandfather was the politician Carl Diehl . His son the actor Karl Ludwig Diehl .
