Karl Duschk (born March 14, 1947 in Braunschweig ; † November 1, 2011 in Stuttgart ) was a German graphic designer , specialist author for art and visual communication and publisher . He was the owner and head of the Stankowski +uchek studio and managing director of the Stankowski Foundation .

Life

From 1964 to 1967, Duschk trained as a classic lithographer . This was followed by studies at the State University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig until 1972 . Then the collaboration with Anton Stankowski , the inventor of the Deutsche Bank logo , began in the Stankowski und Partner graphic studio, later Stankowski + Duschk, in Stuttgart. For example, Karl Duschk developed the new corporate design for Deutsche Börse Group introduced in 1993 .

In terms of content, Duschk was a critic of the “Zeitgeist logos” and advocated clear, unambiguous and simple branding. In this regard, he can be seen in a series with graphic artists such as Otl Aicher and Anton Stankowski.

From 1991 he published and designed the magazine "eins und ...", "Zwei und ..." etc. for art and design. This magazine, with a production time of up to ten years, saw itself as a total work of art and is now part of the holdings of the Museum of Modern Art and the Center Pompidou . The third and final issue "... and three" was completed two days before his death.

Showerk was a member of the Deutscher Werkbund , the artist group Constructive Tendencies and the Society for Art and Design , Bonn.

Karl Duschk lived in Stuttgart until his death and worked in the free and applied field of art and design.
