Karl Ernst Siegmund von Wallersbrunn
Karl Ernst Siegmund von Wallersbrunn (also: Wallbrunn , born September 6, 1749 in Böhmen; † February 27, 1821 in Insterburg ) was Prussian major general and commander of the 8th Dragoon Regiment and, most recently, of the 2nd West Prussian Dragoon Regiment .
Life
origin
He comes from an old Silesian family . His father was a captain in the Austrian service, but a relative was chamberlain to King Friedrich II in 1770 .
Career
He arrived in 1764 as Knight in the Dragoons 8. He was born on September 4, 1766. Ensign and on August 20, 1770 Seconde Lieutenant . As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On November 4, 1782 he was made Premier-Lieutenant , on September 24, 1788 staff captain , on June 17, 1790 major and on January 21, 1792 he was appointed squadron chief. So he fought in the campaign in Poland in 1794/95 . On July 15, 1798 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on May 29, 1800 he became a colonel . In the run-up to the Fourth Coalition War , he became commander of Dragoon Regiment No. 8 on October 29, 1805, and as such he also took part in the war. After the war, when the army was reorganized in 1807, he was appointed commander of the 2nd West Prussian Dragoon Regiment, and on June 19, 1807, he was promoted to major general. But due to his poor health, he received his resignation on October 4, 1808 and a pension of 800 thalers. He died on February 27, 1821 in Insterburg.
In an assessment of the Colonel at the time from 1804 it says: A very active officer who serves with a lot of pleasure has acquired practical service knowledge and has also learned a lot through reading. He rides very well and will become a good commander because he has activity combined with all the knowledge required for this post.
family
He married Countess Friederike Luise Charlotte von Egloffstein on January 4, 1787 in Langraben (October 8, 1767; † October 20, 1847). The couple had a daughter: Friederike Ottilie (* March 19, 1801; † September 25, 1881) married since 1827 to August Wilhelm Karl von Tettau (* September 24, 1800; † January 21, 1871).
